Job Summary:
The ER at Alliance is a 24-Hour full service emergency department that provides the same state-of-the-art, life-saving resources you'd expect from a hospital-based emergency room - close to home and without the wait.

General information:

  • 12 completely private rooms, including rooms for pediatric patients
  • Board-certified emergency medicine physicians
  • Registered nursing staff with advanced certifications and pediatric training
  • 1 Trauma / code room
  • Negative-pressure room
  • Advanced testing and imaging technology, including CT, X-ray, fluoroscopy and ultrasound
  • Medical laboratory with on-site blood bank
  • Staff pharmacist
  • Specially equipped for women's health emergencies
Under the direct supervision of the AVP, the ED Director manages patient care within the Emergency Department to provide a climate optimal for the provision of individualized goal directed nursing care that supports the mission, vision and values of ER at Alliance and the philosophy of the Department of Nursing. The ED Director is expected to provide an environment where nurses practice autonomously utilizing evidence based practices is responsible for planning and providing individual goal directed nursing care that promotes, advocates for and supports the nursing staff's primary commitment to protect the health, safety, and rights of the individual, family or community. Employee will recognize the population specific needs of the emergency patient and apply the appropriate knowledge, skills and behaviors to meet those needs when performing patient care activities. The Director of ER at Alliance assures quality care through compliance with departmental policies, hospital, and external regulatory agency guidelines and: 1.Develops and implements a plan for assuring delivery of individual goal directed nursing care through the use of the nursing process. 2.Provides care in an evidenced-based environment. 3.Practices autonomously, consistent with practice standards and policy/procedures. 4.Exercises independent judgment within the context of interdisciplinary patient care. 5.Provides care/treatment/services within the theoretical framework of modeling and role-modeling. 6.Delegates tasks appropriate to meet the needs of the individual patient and to the skills of the employee supervised. 7.Develops and implements a plan for care delivery with patient safety as the primary goal. 8.Demonstrates expertise in selecting and managing unit based staff. 9.Demonstrates commitment to customer focused care, star service and service recovery. 10.Reviews budget and assumes responsibility for maintaining operating expenses at target levels. 11.Incorporates the philosophy of the Department of Nursing and the hospital's mission, vision and values in the design and implementation of a plan for staff development and unit growth. 12.Participates in and encourages staff participation in performance improvement as an educational experience and a tool for continual improvement of quality of care. 13.Promotes involvement of self and staff in health promotion/educational community activities; community involvement, life time learning and nursing research. 14.Participates in development and evaluation of professional practice by participating on unit and/or hospital committees, special projects and attendance at staff meetings, Employee Forums and Town Halls. 15.Accepts 24-hour accountability and responsibility for the effective operation of the assigned the ED department. 16.Maintains clinical management competency and professional growth

A. Licensure/Certifications:
1. Valid State RN license. 2. Current CPR Course C. 3. National RN Certification preferred.

B. Education:
1. Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. 2. Bachelor Degree required, MSN strongly preferred.

C. Experience:
1. Minimum 5 years current experience in a Director of Emergency Services role. 2. Minimum 3 years of clinical experience in an emergency room setting. Position is a working Director role,
