The U.S. Army Institue of Surgical Research (USAISR) is participating in an alternative personnel system known as the USAMRMC Personnel Demonstration Project (PDP). In keeping with the demonstration pay fixing policies, employees already in the payband or equivalent will not receive a pay increase. The payband DB-02 incorporates the GS-05 to GS-12 levels. Future pay increases within the payband will be accomplished throught the Pay for Performance Management System.

DUTIES:
You will provide critical nursing care to adults, pediatric and geriatric patients who have sustained burn injuries up to 100% of total body surface; care includes continual assessment, planning and evaluation, development of comprehensive care plan and the recognition/evaluation of physiological and behavioral changes of the patient. You will administer medications to include research drugs, and operate special equipment such as cardiac monitors and air fluidized beds. You will perform skin cleansing and wound debridement.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Minimum Qualifications:
Licensure/Certification: Applicants MUST have active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. An applicant who has graduated from an approved nursing educational program within the past 12 months may be appointed pending State registration as a professional nurse with 6 months of appointment. No person appointed pending registration may be retained beyond 6 months, or promoted, if registration has not been attained. Education/Experience: Completion of a nursing program of less than 30 monthsÂ' duration or Associates Degree AND 1 year of professional nursing at the next lower grade level such as practical nurse or nursing assistant experience under the supervision of a professional nurse.
OR Education Substitution: If an applicant meets the basic requirements for Registration/Licensure but fails to meet the Education/Experience listed above, completion of a nursing program of at least 30 monthsÂ' duration or 4 years above high school or bachelorÂ's degree in related field.
Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute education for experience. Personnel security investigation required. A medical examination is required prior to employment. Hepatitis B immunization is required (direct patient contact).
