Work Schedule: Mixed Shift ( rotating weekends)

The Emergency Department RN provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. The tasks and responsibilities include:
Assesses, plans and evaluates patient care needs.
Prioritizes patient care based on acuity level and available resources.
Carries out physician orders.
Assists physician during examination, treatment and procedures.
Administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, monitors vital signs.
Serves as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well coordinated patient care.
Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate! utilizing computerized documentation systems.
Instructs a! nd educates patients and families.
Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
Provides age and culturally appropriate care.
Orients and mentors new staff members.
Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Qualifications POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Training Experience Required
Graduate of an accredited school of Professional Nursing CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE: Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities · PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) certifications required; if not already certified must be received within one-year of employment if not already certified. · RN with current licensure or RN with temporary permit to practice from the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas BSN required within 2 years of hire · Current BCLS certification · Current ACLS certification; Graduate Nurses and RN's with les! s than one-year of experience have six-months from date of hire to obtain. Nurses with greater than one-year of experience must have upon hire into the ED. · Current Specialty certification preferred
