Under the minimal guidance of the Manager Respiratory Care & Clinical Anesthesia Support services the Anesthesia Tech II position is responsible for delivery of in! direct and direct patient care support activities in preparation for surgical and anesthesia procedures. Certain patient activities may be under the direct supervision of the medical staff or Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). The Anesthesia Tech I is an integral member of the patient care and Perioperative teams and serves as a direct assistant to the Anesthesia medical staff in the delivery of Anesthesia care. The Anesthesia Tech I performs certain complex and intricate equipment calibrations and setups and may be required to perform certain patient diagnostic and therapeutic procedures at the direction of the anesthesia medical staff. The Anesthesia Tech I is responsible for the delivery of supportive clinical care activities to the medical staff caring for individuals in all age categories including geriatric adult adolescent and in a limited capacity to pediatrics and the newborn.
Qualifications
Minimum Education: High School/GED
Preferred Education: Some College
Mi! nimum years in field previous to employment: 1
Preferred number of years in field: 3
High School Graduate or GED.
Previous experience (1-3 years) as an Anesthesia Tech is desirable.
Completion of an ASATT approved educational program granting a certificate of completion or other higher degree is preferred. Skills and knowledge levels equivalent to Patient Care Assistant II or completion of an equivalent training program Certification by American Society of Anesthesia Technicians and Technologists (ASATT) is preferred.
Certification as an Anesthesia Technologist (CerATT) is desirable
Certification examination is required within 12 months of hire or transfer into the position.
Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) is preferred
ACLS certification is desirable
Knowledge of Anesthesia delivery procedures and techniques to include administering medications through nebulization! mechanical ventilation cardiopulmonary resuscitation and performing specific testing and physiological monitoring at a level normally acquired through completion of an formal education program in Anesthesia Technology and successful completion of the Certification examination for Anesthesia Technician/Technologist (CerAT).
Licensure Certification and/or Registration: CerAT examination is required within 12 months of hire or transfer into the position.
