This position will be directly tasked with improving the value proposition of the company to our large and national accounts, including select Cobalt Team ! accounts. Activities will include: working with account management in a daily role to meet HCSC customer expectations, analyzing and working with account team in developing messaging relating to quarterly and annual financial performance and care management performance reports, networking and developing relationships with producers and consultants, developing strategy for large and national account customers on solutions to health benefit demands, and becoming a trusted leader in the health benefits space. This position will provide Medical Division expertise in HCSC and Texas Division initiatives and will also serve as a visible participant and presenter during consultant and broker briefing meetings as well as larger mid-market and national account finalist customer meetings.
1) MD or DO with current, unrestricted medical license to practice in the United States and who remains abreast of innovations and developments within the fields of medicine and managed care! ;
2) Board certification by the American Board of Medical ! Specialties - preferably in family medicine, internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, pediatrics, preventive medicine;
3) Knowledge of medical care delivery system, utilization management, quality management, peer review, provider negotiations and contracting models, disease management programs, benefit interpretation, provider relations and member services;
4) Knowledge of credentialing, quality, NCQA, URAC, HEDIS, medical policy issues, condition management issues, and utilization management;
5) Knowledge about latest medical management practices and policies affecting managed care arena at the local, regional and national levels;
6) Visionary and established physician leader with strong business/strategic planning and clinical skills, significant; exposure to the delivery of high quality and cost effective medical care for members in a managed care setting;
7) Ability to deal/interface with physicians and provide leadership and direction to an organi! zation and willingness to make tough strategic decisions and move forward with actions on these strategies;
8) Ability to work in a team environment with attitude toward team building;
9) High integrity, moral and ethical standards. Dependable, fair, honest and committed to doing the right thing;
10) Proactive and highly results oriented; able to meet deadlines under pressure;
PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS:
1) Current, unrestricted medical license to practice in Texas;
2) Post-graduate education in health care administration, public health and/or MBA;
3) 5 years Medical management experience at the health plan level, large health system physician group, or equivalent.
