Assesses plans, organizes, implements and evaluates orientation and educational programs for the Emergency Department. Fulfills responsibilities of an RN Nurse Planner for Continuing Nursi! ng Education (CNE) through possession of authority, accountability, and responsibility for adherence to Texas Nurses Association (TNA) and American Nurses Credentialing Center Commission on Accreditation (ANCC-COA) criteria in individual educational activities through collaboration with Nursing Administration at El Paso Childrenâs Hospital. Provides nursing professional development and education services by assisting ED nurses in preparing for contemporary practice and supporting them in acquiring knowledge and skills to competently collect patient health data, analyze the data to determine diagnoses, identify expected outcomes individualized to the patient, develop a plan of care that outlines interventions to attain the expected outcomes, implement the interventions identified in the plan of care, and evaluate the patientâs progress toward attainment of the outcomes in the pediatric care settings. The ED, Clinical Nurse Educator will also be involved in the developmen! t and education services of the electronic medical record (EMR! ) and unlicensed assistive personnel. Will be expected to work as a bedside nurse as applicable. Nursing practices at El Paso Childrenâs Hospital emphasize theory based nursing that is evidenced based utilizing a Shared Governance model for decision-making.

Participates in hospital and departmental performance improvement activities.
Serves as a resource to nurse managers and staff for educational issues.
Assists learners to identify both their learning needs and the effective learning activities required to meet those needs while fostering a positive attitude about the benefits and opportunities of life-long learning.
Provides ongoing evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of the edu! cational activities to ensure that they maintain and enhance profession! al development that promotes the delivery of cost-effective high quality healthcare.
Maintains clinical competence in area of specialty.
Identifies changes that should be made in nursing practice using an evidence-based approach and facilitates the initiation of, adoption of, and adaptation to change.
Provides ongoing evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of the educational activities to ensure that they maintain and enhance professional development that promotes the delivery of cost-effective high quality healthcare.
Supports staff development with educational activities which include remediation, certification, mentoring, life support, Joint Commission requirements, product roll-outs, hospital orientation, electronic medical record documentation systems, safety and quality management principles, organizational strategic goals and plans.
Serves as an educational consultant to facilities, task forces, committees, and projec! ts relating to policy, procedure, and program development.
Supports integration of nursing research into clinical practice.
Coordinates educational activities that include continuing education credits, clinical affiliations, nurse novice to expert orientation.
Leads committees, work groups, council meetings, and or projects related to implementation of educational activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
A. Work Experience
Two years RN experience required.
B. License/Registration/Certification
Current RN License to practice in the State of Texas.
C. Education and Training
Bachelorâs degree in Nursing required. Masters degree preferred .
