Post by Jobing - The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing individualized, age specific, goal directed care including treatments, activities! , nourishment, drugs, and parenteral therapy in a safe and competent manner to the intermediate care patient. The RN assesses the needs of the patient/client in order to develop a plan of care and then implements and evaluates the plan. The RN bases the plan of care on current nursing knowledge/skills and institutional methodology. The RN accepts assignments that are commensurate with his/her experience, knowledge and ability.
The RN delegates tasks to the licensed and unlicensed personnel according to the Texas Nurse Practice Act and hospital policy. The RN carries out physician orders to insure patient care is complete. The RN abides by policy and procedure of hospital and established routines to assure quality care is provided. The RN will provide care to the stroke patient consistent with bestâ€"practice guidelines (Stroke Core Measures).
The Registered Nurse serves the following age groups and/or patient populations on a regular basis: Neonate Infant ! Pediatric X Adolescent X Adult X Geriatric Education: Required! ADN, RN Preferred BSN, RN Experience: Prefer 1 year clinical experience Knowledgeable in basic nursing skills. Proficient in drug types, interactions and reference materials. Knowledgeable to give medications and perform duties of a RN. Specific knowledge of medical terminology to be able to understand and carry out physician orders.
Specific knowledge of the basic principles of the nursing field and their applications to be able to understand and carry out the duties of a staff nurse. General knowledge of arithmetic, spelling, and grammar to be able to do drug calculations and properly document patient care. Specific knowledge of nursing principles and patient care procedures in order to communicate properly with patients, staff, and physicians. General knowledge to assure physician orders are carried out effectively Licenses/Certificates: REQUIRED: Licensed as Registered Nurse in the State of Texas Current Texas Licensure to practice professional nursing.
