JOB SUMMARY: Is responsible for direct constant observation of assigned patients under supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Responsibilities:

Clinical Practice: Under the supervision of the RN, actively assists in the nursing activities by frequently communicating observations and providing direct and constant patient observation. Maintains required certification and mandatory items.
Safety: Provides a safe physical and emotional environment for self, coworkers and patients. Recogn! izes life threatening situations and responds appropriately. Information Management: Maintains an accurate, legible and relevant record of patient care provided. Communicates information frequently, accurately and timely.
Work Management: Efficiently and effectively completes assignments; demonstrates appropriate priority setting and when conflicts arise communicates to the responsible RN and/or charge nurse for resolution.
Performance Improvement: Monitors the quality of care based on pre-established outcome oriented indicators; participates in departmental and organizational improvement activities. Makes suggestions for improving processes.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS : The following qualifications or equivalents are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job.
Education and formal Training: High School diploma or GED REQUIRED, plus successful completion of Patient Sitter training class.
Work Experience: No! ne required
Knowledge, skills, and Abilities Required: Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills. Verbal and written skills required. Is knowledgeable of the age specific physiological, psychosocial, developmental and spiritual needs of the patients typically served. Must have command of the English language and possess visual and auditory acuity for accurate data collection.
Physical Requirements: work requires long periods of standing, walking or sitting and occasional assistance with heavy lifting. May be required to work variable shifts on occasion. Position may involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material.
Age of Patients Served: Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric
