Ector County Independent School District is seeking qualified applicants for the following position(s): Substitute Registered Nurse Location: Health Servic! es Job Qualifications: - Registered Professional Nurse with academic preparation at the associate or baccalaureate level; - Current Texas license issued by the Board of Nurse Examiners; - Preferred: two years of supervised nurse practice preferably in pediatrics and medical/surgical nursing prior to entry into school nursing; - Ability to lift 150 lbs with assistance if needed; - Current certification in CPR Summary: The job goal of the school nurse is to strengthen the educational process through improvement of the health status and learning of children. Duties and Responsibilities: - provide assessment and nursing care for all ill and injured students; - utilize a district knowledge base for decisionâ€'making in nursing practice; - use a systematic approach to problem solving in nursing practice; - contribute to the education of the student with special health needs by assessing the student, planning, and providing appropriate nursing care, and evaluating the identified o! utcomes of care; - use effective written, verbal, and nonverba! l communication skills; - collaborate with other school professionals, parents, and caregivers to meet the health, developmental, and educational needs of students; - collaborate with members of the community in the delivery of health and social services, and utilize knowledge of community health systems and resources to function as a school community liaison; - assist students, families and the school community to achieve optimal levels of wellness through appropriately designed and delivered health education; - contribute to school health through innovations on practice and participation in research or research-related activities;- identify the nursing role, promote quality of care, pursue continue professional enhancement, and demonstrate professional conduct; - assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the health services director. Employment Information: School location to be determined as needed. Salary: $20.00 hourly
