Description:
The Audiologist is r! esponsible for diagnostic assessment of hearing loss and hearing rehabilitation procedures and judgment to select and implement most appropriate evaluation methods for diverse needs. Determine if the individual is a hearing aid candidate or would benefit from assistive listening devices. Provide care with implantable hearing technologies including cochlear implants, BAHA and Esteem implants. Obtain telemetry measures for cochlear implant procedures. Administer hearing evaluations, tests, or examinations to collect information on type and degree of impairment, using specialized instruments and electronic equipment; reports the results of the diagnostic audiologic hearing evaluation to the individual’s PCP, makes a referral to the program that have been diagnosed with permanent hearing loss. Provide other members with information about hearing and hearing loss, and communication and education options for folks who are deaf or hard of hearing. Fit individuals with ampli! fication including hearing aids or other assistive technology;! refers for consideration of cochlear implant candidacy when appropriate. Fit and tune cochlear implants, providing rehabilitation for adjustment to listening with implant amplification systems; serve as a resource for providing information on hearing loss, audiograms, hearing aids, acoustic environments and auditory training activities. Examine and clean ear canals. Assist in development of goals and strategies for educational improvement; and perform all other duties as needed or directed.
