The Registered Nurse conducts and participates in comprehensive Nursing assessment of assigned patients, identifies complex care problems and evaluates effectiveness of patient support services. Instructs patients and significant others in care provided, disease and/ or illness, expected outcomes, and homecare.

Perform individualized Nursing assessment for each assigned patient utilizing assessment skills of inspection, palpation, percussion and auscultation to obtain physical assessment data.

Interpret data from all health team members and integrate it into written assessment and formulate Nursing diagnosis based on available assessment data.

Formulate individualized patient care plans by prescribing Nursing interventions for patient problems. Establish realistic goals for patient during hospitalization and devise teaching plan to meet learning needs which include developing teaching strategies.

Communicate patient care plan to health team members on continuous basis which includes giving report, providing explanation of plan of care to be given, acting as resource person, and completing necessary documentation on various Nursing forms.

May perform other duties as assigned or requested

Baylor Medical Center at Carrollton is located at 4343 North Josey Lane in Carrollton. It is 237-bed acute care facility with approximately 715 people on staff and 487 physicians representing 37 medical specialties on the medical staff. Their full range of services include interventional radiology, nuclear medicine, MRI and CT, as well as cardiology, laboratory services, endoscopy, orthopedics, day surgery, medical/surgical inpatient and outpatient care, and 24-hour emergency services. The medical center also offers specialized women's and pediatric services such as a pediatric pulmonary function lab within the Respiratory and Asthma Center; an in-vitro fertilization lab; labor and delivery services; a Level III neonatal intensive care unit; and an Imaging Center, an outpatient imaging center just north of the hospital. Other specialty programs also are offered at the facility, such as the Sleep Diagnostic Center, Center for Breast Health, a Senior Health Care Center, and a Surgical Weight Loss Program that is certified by the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) as a Center of Excellence in Bariatric Surgery.

The medical center serves the communities of Carrollton, Lewisville, Farmer's Branch and North Dallas. Satellite campuses in Carrollton, Lewisville, The Colony, and Flower Mound offer specialized medical services.

In 2007, Trinity Medical Center received the 2007 Texas Healthcare Quality Improvement Award of Excellence from the Texas Medical Foundation Health Quality Institute, the Medicare Quality Improvement organization for Texas.

Job Requirements

Education, training, experience:
Associates Degree or equivalent required. Bachelors degree preferred. Minimum of 1-2 years of current NICU experience is required. CPR/BLS is required. NRP required. Must be vent qualified. Must have Level III experience. Must be able to attend high risk deliveries. Must be willing to float to newborn nursery.
