Job Qualifications:
- Registered Professional Nurse with academic preparation at the associate or baccalaureate level;
- Current Texas license issued by the Board of Nurse Examiners;
- Preferred: two years of supervised nurse practice preferably in pediatrics and medical/surgical nursing prior to entry into school nursing;
- Ability to lift 150 lbs with assistance if needed;
- Current certification in CPR
Duties and Responsibilities:
- provide assessment and nursing care for all ill and injured students;
- utilize a district knowledge base for decisionâ€'making in nursing practice;
- use a systematic approach to problem solving in nursing practice;
- contribute to the education of the student w! ith special health needs by assessing the student, planning, a! nd providing appropriate nursing care, and evaluating the identified outcomes of care;
- use effective written, verbal, and nonverbal communication skills;
- collaborate with other school professionals, parents, and caregivers to meet the health, developmental, and educational needs of students;
- collaborate with members of the community in the delivery of health and social services, and utilize knowledge of community health systems and resources to function as a school community liaison;
- assist students, families and the school community to achieve optimal levels of wellness through appropriately designed and delivered health education;
- contribute to school health through innovations on practice and participation in research or research-related activities;
- identify the nursing role, promote quality of care, pursue continue professional enhancement, and demonstrate professional conduct;
- assume other duties and respon! sibilities as assigned by the health services director.
Salary: $20.00 hourly
