Managepatients during and after emergence from anesthesia including gen! eral,Monitored Anesthesia Care (MAC), regional, spinal/epidural. PRINCIPAL DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES: Trackingand evaluating patient laboratory and physical assessment parameters.Managepatient s condition and care with focus on airway maintenance. Able to manage airway status in rapidlychanging circumstances and take action to avoid or minimize patient compromise.Initiatepostâ"operative therapies such as, patient controlled analgesia, epiduralinfusion, Swiss therapy, etc.Participatesin and manages patients undergoing electrical therapy i.e., electroconvulsivetherapy (ECT) and cardioversion.Participatesas assigned in PACU on call schedule and arrives on site within 45 minutes.SCOPE OF CARE: Surgical Services provides surgical intervention in specialty areas of General, Orthopedics, Cardiovascular, Cardiothoracic, Spine, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Urologic, Otolaryngology, Plastic and Reconstructive, Oncology, Podiatry, Pediatric, Laser, Gynecologic and Obstetric surgery.!
Additional medical specialties include Endoscopy, Br! onchoscopy and pain management. The services provided are for both outpatient and inpatient populations. The clinical areas include Preâ"admission Testing, Day Surgery (Preâ"op and Phase II Recovery), OR, PACU (Phase I Recovery) and ENDO. PACU: Hours of operation are from 0630 until 2100 and consists of 12 Phase I bays.The department is open for urgent/emergent procedures on weekends, holidays and after hours.
Work Experience: One year experience in surgical services. License/Registration/ Certification: Current RN permit or licensure issued by the Board of Nurse Examiners of theState of Texasto practice professional nursing.Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider certification required.Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and PALS certification required.Education & TrainingCompletion of an accredited school of nursing program resulting in an Associate Degree, Diploma or Baccalaureate degree in nursing. Skills: Technical, clerical, critical ! thinking and interpersonal skills relevant to total patient care/area in order to safely and efficiently treat patients. Good verbal and written communication skills necessary in order to be clearly and easily understood by patients, families and members of the Health Care team.
Writes/prints legibly in order to document accurately and understandably, and to provide direction to support staff and others. Demonstrates a pleasant, helpful and caring demeanor in order to be an effective patient advocate.
