Introduction
Royal IHC is leading supplier of maritime technology and expert craftsmanship. Royal IHC delivers equipment, vessels and services which are reliable, integrated solutions to improve operational efficiency and allow for more sustainable solutions.
Background
Royal IHC is developing the next generation transport vessels for carbon capture transport and storage at sea. For this concept design additional studies are required in order to obtain knowledge in the development of the required infrastructure in terms of assets and sustainability.
Assignment
Investigate what the optimal configuration will be of a transport and storage concept for carbon capture at sea. In this analysis the following aspects need to be taken into account:
  • Offloading methodologies
  • Injection methodologies
  • Asset requirements
Learning goals:
  • Installation procedure and maritime operations of carbon capture and corresponding infrastructure
  • Limiting parameters on the operation (sea state, current and wind forces, water depth)
  • Design parameters of
    • Transport operation (Only transport, or combined transport and offloading)
    • Scalability of the transport and injection operation
    • Estimation of autonomy of the operation
Your Profile
In order to be able to discuss and inform the organization and colleagues of the developments and initiatives of this internship, one must be a curious, confident and self-driven individual. As a third or fourth-year student, you will be capable of taking the initiative when carrying out your duties. To be eligible for this position you must have:
  • An academic education in Mechanical Engineering or Maritime Engineering;
  • Have a high level of interest in the dredging or heavy industry;
  • Fluent in Dutch and English, both verbal and written;
  • The ability to work independently and be self-critical.
