Overview:
Provide quality basic and telephone nursing care. Assist in collecting data, planning, educating, i! mplementing and evaluating age appropriate care in a manner th! at incorporates family centered principals and cost effective care.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the collection of patient/family data, including bio-physical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, spiritual and environmental information. Collect and document observations and interventions (vital signs, height/weight, neurological checks, pain, etc.). Assist with planning patient care involving the patient/family: provide input into the development and modification of the patient's plan of care; follow up on abnormal labs. Perform generic and unit-based critical competencies. Provide care in accordance with established treatment plan. Identify needs/problems and intervene. Document care provided and patient response to intervention. Assist patient/family in implementing their role in the treatment plan. Assist with the management of prescriptions. Demonstrate effective triage skills. Assist and reinforce education of the patient/family. Demonstrate commi! tment to team, flexibility, professional interpersonal, communication, critical thinking and customer service skills. Prioritize workload. Assist in the management of clinic flow. Participate in achieving hospital/unit goals.
Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of fundamental nursing skills and developmental (age-appropriate) nursing practices. Ability to demonstrate positive interpersonal skills; good time and resource management skills; flexibility; positive oral and written communication skills; operate unit specific equipment.
Education, Licensure and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited School of Vocational Nursing with current license or permit to practice Vocational Nursing in the State of Texas.
